She looks at the photo, wiping the dust off the frame with her shirt sleeve. She studies his face and his eyes. Time fades away as she remembers his voice. It has been five years, but she still expects him to be in his favorite chair when she turns the corner to enter the living room.
The silence is loud.
He searches the newspaper, hoping a promising job listing will be there, but there’s nothing new. Defeat shouts at him. It’s been six months since the downsizing happened. Fourteen years at the same job. A job he loved. And now the days roll one into another.

The silence is loud.
Starlit night.
Bethlehem bustling with people. Everyone has traveled from near and far. The streets are full.
Far outside the city, the shepherds tend their flocks.
The night is clear. The earth awaits.
The silence is loud.
But then . . .
Then comes the heavenly announcement. Angels praising. Baby crying.
Messiah has come!
Jesus enters the silence.
He comes to a world in pain. A world stubborn and distracted.
He is the answer.
When the silence is loud, His voice fills the empty places.
When the silence is loud, His Word brings peace.
When the silence is loud, He bends near.
He comes in ways unexpected. Grace lavished. Love unending.
And the silence is filled with Hope.
In His Grace,
Sherri
